What is the one thing from your childhood that you hold close to your heart? Is it the blanket you used to bring everywhere? Is it the toy car you’ve always imagined riding in when you were smaller? Is it the doll you loved dressing up and having tea parties with? Maybe it’s the action figure that fended of the monsters in your closet. Or perhaps it’s what seems to be the best pen you write great poems with, or that sketchpad that you’ve filled your artistic juices onto.

UP ASTERISK presents “My Favorite Things,” a photography competition that aims to capture how things held dear from your childhood affects how you are today. Take a snapshot of the experience you have shared with that thing you favor most hold a special place that eventually helped you develop your character and personality today and get a chance to win Php  4,000!

1. CONTEST MECHANICS:

• Interested participants must be bona fide college students ages 17 to 25*

• Participants must like the UP ASTERISK fan page on Facebook (http://facebook.com/upasterisk)

• Entries must be original and unpublished with the participant attesting that he/she owns the copyright, and have the following specifications: full color, 8 x 10 in, 300 dpi

• Only minimal adjustments (e.g. adjustments with contrast, curves and levels) to the entries are allowed; entries with extreme alterations are subject to disqualification

• Entries must be submitted in .jpeg format via electronic mail at mfcphotog2012.upasterisk@yahoo.com together with the following details:

• Please attach submissions in the following entry filename format: SURNAME–TITLE OF PHOTO

• A registration fee Php 100 for the first entry and Php 50 per succeeding entries is required of all participants; payment transactions can be made at the UP ASTERISK tambayan (Kubo 5, FC Tambayan Complex, behind the Faculty Center) and payments must be placed in an envelope together with your name and contact details – look for ASH (+639275756892) or KAT (+639178933093)

• Deadline of submission of entries and payment of registration fees is on FEBRUARY 7, 2012 (TUESDAY)

• Entries will be uploaded on the UP ASTERISK fan page from FEBRUARY 8 to 23, 2012 and will be subject to online voting via liking; participants may share and link their works to people to garner the most number of votes. People must first like the UP ASTERISK fan page (http://facebook.com/upasterisk) in order to like the entry of their choice

• Entries submitted will also be exhibited at the UP ASTERISK Anniversary Exhibit on FEBRUARY 14 to 24, 2012; participants may claim their prints on the last week of February

• Winners will be announced and featured on FEBRUARY 24, 2012 (FRIDAY) at the UP ASTERISK KultNight

Relevance to the Theme - 30%

Originality - 25%

Over All Impact - 15%

• NOTE: 90% of the final scores will be taken from the judges’ scores as per the given criteria, while the remaining 10% will come from entries ranking based on the most number of likes on Facebook
